About the Founder

I’m Brian Bussey, founder of EM Consulting.
My path into emergency management began with a calling after witnessing Hurricane Katrina and the clear gaps in local and federal preparedness and response. I remember thinking, there should have been better preparation—people didn’t need to experience that level of devastation. That moment led me to pursue a deeper understanding of disaster response and preparedness, ultimately earning a Master of Science in Emergency Management.
While my studies built a strong foundation, it was real-world experience that shaped my perspective. I saw firsthand that emergencies don’t discriminate—regardless of who you are or where you come from, preparedness matters. Too often, organizations and families are left with plans that look good on paper but don’t hold up in practice.
That realization is what led me to start EM Consulting.
My approach is practical, straightforward, and built around how people actually operate under pressure. Whether working with businesses, schools, local governments, or households, the goal is the same: identify real risks, build clear plans, and create confidence before an emergency ever happens.
Preparedness should feel structured—not overwhelming—and good planning replaces uncertainty with clarity.
We don’t sell fear—we build resilience.
